HOWARD E. HARTLEY

Howard E. "Buck" Hartley, age 87, former resident of rural Fort Scott, died early Sunday, November 5, 2006, at Fort Scott Manor Nursing Home. He was born January 11, 1919 in Bourbon County, the son of Howard A. Hartley and Elsie Endicott Hartley. Buck farmed during his lifetime. He was a member of the Cherry Grove Baptist Church. He loved his farm animals, especially horses and his dogs.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Anna Mae Hartley, Paola; and several first and second cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Fred Hartley and one sister, Jessie Hartley.

The Rev. R.B. Shoemaker will conduct funeral services at 3 p.m., Tuesday in the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Large Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott.
