City and county crews on Monday began the clean-up process after Bourbon County was hit with a deluge Saturday night and damaging storms since Thursday, officials said Monday.

Rain from storms that blew in Saturday night flooded roads, rivers and lakes throughout the county. Fort Scott City Manager Brad Matkin said Monday he received reports the city received between 12 and 14 inches of rain in a 24-hour period.

“That’s the most I’ve ever heard,” he said.
