City commissioners elect new mayor for 2023

Fort Scott has a new mayor following the annual reorganization of the city commission Tuesday evening.

Matthew Wells was elected mayor and Tim Van Hoecke was elected commission president. The motions for their elections passed 4-1 with Josh Jones, Edwin Woellhof, Tim Van Hoecke and Wells voting yes and Katy Harrington voting no on each motion.
