Advanced voting began Wednesday for the Aug. 2 primary election.

Bourbon County Clerk Ashley Shelton said Friday the courthouse will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday until noon Monday, Aug. 1 for early voting. Voters only need to bring photo identification.

“We will be here two full days on Saturdays, which we haven’t done in the past,” she said.

Shelton said people who are unaffiliated, or registered as “anything other than Democrat or Republican,” will receive a ballot to vote on the constitutional amendment question, as long as he or she is a registered voter.

Shelton said the deadline to request an absentee ballot is Tuesday, July 26. Voters can also visit www.myvoteinfo.voteks.org to find their registration information, voting history, voting district and sample ballots.

Shelton said she estimates about 150 people have completed advanced ballots in the first two days of early voting. She estimated about 250 mail ballots have been sent out so far.

The primary election will take place Aug. 2. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
