Nina Carlotta Morasch

Nina Carlotta Morasch, age 78, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022, in Fort Scott. She was born Jan. 6, 1944, in Queensland, Australia, the daughter of Philip Anthony Bertino and Lucille Muriel Dalby Bertino. Soon after Nina’s birth, the family moved to New York City. She grew up in New York and married Norman Gary Morasch on Nov. 1, 1963, in New York City’s Greenwich Village. The couple soon moved to Kansas City. Nina later took a job with the Internal Revenue Service. She retired from the IRS as a senior auditor after 21 years of service. She enjoyed reading and going on QVC shopping sprees.

Survivors include two daughters, Rachel Morasch of Fort Scott and Vivian Westpahl (Mark) of Overland Park, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Devon Morasch (Christina), Morgan Gordon (Ethan), Chelsea Goff (David), Amanda Ruby (Eric), Kori Hays (Stas), Erica Westphal and Grace Westphal and five great-grandchildren, Quinton, Delilah, Waylon, Dawson and Shepard.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 20 at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Scott. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, KS. Words of remembrance may be submitted to the online guestbook at cheneywitt.com.
