Rolling them up

Tuesday, January 15, 2019
Fort Scott City street maintenance workers Jim Bedenbender, left, and Buzz Hawpe, roll up a pair of flags near H&H Agency. Each year, the flags along Skubitz Plaza are taken down and stored for the winter. They will be returned in March, according to Bedenbender. The 42 flags flown around the plaza represent those who have fought for our country from World War II to the present. A dedication plaque from those who donated to the flag project in 2012-13 is located on each flagpole where the flags fly.
