FSMS boys take 3 of 4 from Parsons

Fort Scott Middle School's boys basketball won three of four games from Parsons at the FSMS gymnasium Thursday evening.

The seventh-grade A team took a 27-11 win and the B team got by the Vikings 23-18. The eighth-grade B team won fairly easily, 28-11, but the A team fell to a Parsons rally in the fourth quarter, 41-38.

The seventh-grade A team led just 7-5 after one period but shut out the Vikings in the second quarter and allowed only 6 points in the second half.

Collin Thomas scored all 13 of the Tigers' first half points and led with 17 points.

The B team led after one 10-0 but then was unable to score in the second quarter. Parsons got within 15-14 after three.

Dryden Cosens led the B team with 8 points. Trenton Peck scored 6 points in this game before going out and scoring 6 more in the A game.

The eighth-grade B team led 14-3 at the end of the first period and were still up 21-11 at the half. Parsons won the second half, 30-17, taking the lead with 1;30 remaining in the game.

Gavin Pytlowany and Luke Bradbury each scored 10 points for the Tigers and Teagan Southwell added 9. Julius Smith-Reece scored 23 to lead Parsons, 11 in the third quarter.

The 8B team trailed 5-4 after one but took a 12-11 lead at the half. They shut out the Vikings for the entire second half.

Noah Martin led the Tigers with 5 points followed by Malachi Vann, Nick Emerson, Jamar Franks and Noah Larsen each adding 4.

FSMS hosts Independence Thursday.
