PLEASANTON -- Uniontown's teams swept rival Marmaton Valley here Tuesday night, giving each a chance to play for the championship of the Pleasanton Mid-Season Tournament if they beat Pleasanton Thrusday.

Uniontown's girls defeated Marmaton Valley, 40-36, in Pool B. Eagle boys beat the Wildcats, 54-41, in a Pool B game.

In both the girls' and boys' pools, Uniontown and Pleasanton are both 1-0 while both Marmaton Valley teams are 0-2 and will be playing in the tournament's fifth-place games on Friday night.

The winner of each Uniontown-Pleasanton game will win the pool and play for first place against the winner of Pool A. The loser of each plays for third place versus the second-place finisher in Pool A.

Humboldt's boys have clinced a championship game appearance. The girls' Pool A is yet to be settled as a three-way tie is possible. Central Heights plays Altoona-Midway in boys' and girls' play Thursday night. The girls' Pool A could end up in a three-way tie with points possibly deciding who plays for the championship.

Uniontown's girls (2-8) got 20 points, 8 steals, 4 assists and 7 rebounds from Shalina Harper in their victory. Holly Shinn also had 8 rebounds.

"We have had trouble putting together a solid four-quarter effort all season and tonight was no different," Eagle girls' coach Dustin Miller said. "But we outscored (the Wildcats) 25 to 6 in the fourth quarter to overcome a deficit. Shalina Harper led the charge in the final period; she scored 15 of her 20 points and went 7-for-7 from the free-throw line."

Thursday's girls' game tips off at 5 p.m. followed by the boys at 6:45.
