Steven "Steve" Eugene Springer

Steven "Steve" Eugene Springer, age 62, Prescott, Kan., passed away at his home Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014. He was born on March 21, 1951 at Prescott, Kan., the son of Charlie Clarence and Alta June Holmes Springer. He graduated from Prescott High School in the Class of 1969. He married Karen Clark on Nov. 28, 1969. Steve attended Pittsburg State University to obtain a drafting diploma. He launched Springer Land Surveying Company in 1985. His business memberships included: American Congress on Surveying and Mapping, National Society of Professional Surveyors, Kansas Society of Land Surveyors and the Kansas Association of Mappers. Steve's personal memberships are as follows: Prescott United Methodist Church, American Musicians Union, eight years on Prescott City Council and the Prescott Volunteer Fire Department. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and Rodney Springer. Steve is survived by his parents, Clarence and June Springer, wife Karen, children: Cindy York and fiancé Tim Quinn, Eric Springer and wife Tracy, Isaac Springer and fiancé Charlotte Campbell and Sarah Prince and husband Dusty; grandchildren: Tommie and Chris West, Whitney, Casey and Clayton York, Samuel Fox, Garrett Prince, Grace, Emma, and Gabriel Springer and Sophia and Ryan Springer; great grandchildren: Chloe Harper and Nolan West; siblings: Randy Springer and wife Diane, Charlene Brannon, and Nancy Neubert and husband Doug.

Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 at the Prescott United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Prescott Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel.
