Teachers traveled from across the country to Fort Scott Friday to participate in the Lowell Milken Center and Fort Scott National Historic Site workshop, "They Fought Like Tigers: Unsung Heroes of the Civil War Era." The workshop continues today and will conclude with a tour of the U.S. National Cemetery.

Tammy Helm/Tribune photo Teachers and other Fort visitors listen as Galen Ewing, FSNHS volunteer coordinator and tour guide, introduces them to their first stop on Friday's vignette "From Enlistment to Grave." Reenactors stand by, ready to begin telling the story of one young First Colored Guard soldier's story.
