PARSONS -- Senior Jake Durossette scored five touchdowns here Friday night to lead Fort Scott High to its 22nd consecutive victory over Parsons, 57-13.

Durossette scored Fort Scott's first three touchdowns on first-quarter runs of 1 and 25 yards and a second-quarter rush of 14 yards. It was 20-0 with 11:13 left in the second after Parsons blocked the extra point after the third score.

The Tigers, who won for the 8th consecutive times over Parsons in a season opener and the 11th straight time at Marvel Park, made it 22-0 when the ball went out of the back of the Vikings' end zone after a bad pitch with 5:40 to go.

Quarterback Zach Denton scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak with 42 seconds left in the half, which turned out to be the first of three touchdowns in a 33-second span.

Parsons' Steve McDonald returned the ensuing kickoff 90 yards to get Parsons on the board. But Alex Fink returned the following kickoff 87 yards to the house to make it 43-7 with nine seconds to go.

Durossette's fifth TD came when he returned a fumble 61 yards with approximately 10:10 left in the third. The teams' head coaches had agreed to have a running clock the entire second half.

Brendyn Quinney posted Fort Scott's final score on a 12-yard run three plays after Carter Young intercepted a pass. That made it 57-7 with less than three minutes on the clock in the third.

Parsons' Osric Edwards scored from 87 yards out with 2:58 to go. The Vikings went for 2 points but were not successful. That killed enough time with the running clock that the ensuing kickoff didn't happen.

For the Tigers, who won over Parsons for the 60th time overall, more than any other opponent, Durossette finished with 147 yards rushing on 12 carries and Race Kastl added 108 on 10 rushes. Denton completed 4 of 7 passes for 50 yards. Three of those went to Fink for 37 yards.

Fort Scott gained 378 yards rushing and 428 yards in total offense. Since 1996, the Tigers are 31-0 when rushing for over 300 yards and 34-0 when gaining over 400 yards in total offense.

Parsons managed just 2 first downs -- one in each half -- and 149 yards in total offense, all of it rushing and only 64 of that on 28 plays prior to Edwards' game-ending score.

The Tigers will hold their home opener Friday night, a battle of league favorites as Columbus, the coaches' pick to win the CNC, comes in to face the SEK's pick according to its coaches. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
