Starlite F.C.E. meets

Friday, December 28, 2012

The Starlite F.C.E. December meeting was a potluck dinner held at the home of Doris Ericson.

A delicious meal was enjoyed by 15 members and guests. Jackie Warren's daughter, Margaret Yarberry, was visiting from Colorado. With Margaret was Jackie's great-granddaughter, Zoey.

Newly-elected President Joyce Gobl called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was followed by the Club Collect. A new member, Maybelle Mertz, was welcomed. Forty-five volunteer hours were reported for December.

Gobl asked for program hostess and co-hostess for the coming year. With this information, she will prepare the 2013 books. Suggestions for 2013 were made. Everyone is looking forward to a busy new year.

Rather than a gift exchange, it was decided each member would donate $10 to Ralph Carlson, who organizes volunteers to complete repair work on homes for individuals who are unable to do this for themselves.

It was discussed and decided to give a $15 memorial to Fort Scott Manor in remembrance of Cleo Frederick who had been a F.C.E. member for years.

Doris Ericson read a letter from Helen Carson, who wrote the club thanking them for the birthday card that was sent to celebrate her 80th birthday.

A training program will be held at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 25, 2013, at the Allen County Meeting Room. The Southwind Extension Agents will provide programs that will be presented to the clubs by members. The Starlite F.C.E. club is to provide the crackers, chees and fixings.

Marge moved that the meeting be adjourned with Doris seconding the motion. The meeting was adjourned.
