Rodney Clarence Springer, age 60, Prescott, Kan., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012. He was born on May 5, 1952, at Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Charlie Clarence and Alta June Springer. He graduated from Prescott High School and attended Fort Scott Community College and later received a bachelor of science in biology and a minor in chemistry from Pittsburg State University. He served his country in the United States Army. He married Debra Shattuck and to this union three children were born, Tatum, Quentin, and Charlie. Rod worked as an agronomist in western Kansas and later in the San Luis Valley of Colorado where he also farmed potatoes. He returned to Prescott and continued working in the agriculture industry, farming and ranching. Rod was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, prospecting and bird watching. He had a special love for the Rocky Mountains.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Burial will be in the Prescott Cemetery.
