C.L. Akin, 74, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, 9101 Lamar Ave. Private burial to follow.

C.L. was born Dec. 15, 1937, in Wichita and raised in Fort Scott. He was an educator for over 50 years, teaching math at Washington High School, Sumner Academy, Kansas City Kansas Community College and Johnson County Community College. C.L. was also the owner of Quality Tax Service.

He is survived by his wife Sylvia Akin of Overland Park, daughter Millicent Dohr of Newcastle, Australia and son, Bob Akin of Prairie Village, a sister Rosemary Wakefield and three grandsons, Will, Spencer and Juan.
