Bricks taken from the old bathhouse at the municipal pool were salvaged and will be used in an entryway for the new aquatic center, set to open this summer.

On sale at the city water department at City Hall, 123 S. Main, the bricks cost $45, Assistant City Manager Susan Brown said. The price covers 13 characters per line and up to three lines per brick.

The original bathhouse, which has been torn down, dated back to 1936. A new one is being built.

Brown said the city plans to sell about 500 bricks. "We actually have 1,000, but we think we can only get 500 into the space. We may come up with something more creative," like placing bricks in other areas of the center.

Any extra proceeds will go toward amenities for the facility such as pool slides, concession stands and improved sidewalks, Brown said.
