Patricia Ruth Parker Wright, 88, of Girard, died at 4:20 a.m., Saturday, July 30, 2011, in the Heritage Health Care Center in Girard.

She was born May 23, 1923, in Jefferson City, Mo., a daughter of Roy W. and Marie Louise (Fausell) Parker.

She graduated from Jefferson City High School and received her associate degree in business management. She worked in Jefferson City before moving with her family to Wichita, Kan., where she worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 22 years.

She married John Wright in 1962, and they remained and worked in Wichita until they decided country life was for them. They bought a farm and moved to Crawford County. She often said she loved the beauty and the people of that area. She was also very much in charge of the ranch operations.

Pat will be remembered for her outstanding cooking, her kind heart and her inherent beauty.

Survivors are a sister, Marjorie Groves of Lawrence, Kan.; nephews Parker Groves and his wife Kathy of Lawrence and John Groves of Gainsville, Fla.; three great-nephews and two great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Fr. Roger Lumbre as celebrant. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Fort Scott, Kan.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m., until service time.
