McKenney, Palmer on UMB board

UMB Bank, a subsidiary of UMB Financial Corp., has announced the addition of Debra McKenney and Gary Palmer to its Fort Scott advisory board.

McKenney owns Fort Scott Area Radio Stations and Central Communications, a provider of local radio stations in Fort Scott and the surrounding areas. Palmer owns Captured Images, a professional photography company providing services ranging from portraits to commercial prints and advertising.

"We are privileged to have esteemed leaders like Debra and Gary serve on the advisory board," said Cindy Bowman, UMB community bank president. "I am confident that their addition to the board will further enhance UMB's presence in the area."

McKenney also is actively involved in the community. She serves on the board for Presbyterian Village of Fort Scott, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Fort Scott Area Chamber Board of Commerce and Big Brothers Big Sisters. She is a retention committee member for the chamber of commerce.

McKenney also is a member of Fort Scott Rotary and a current member and past president of PEO. McKenney also initiated Relay for Life in Fort Scott and served as the chairman for the first five years.

Palmer earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing from Pittsburg State University and an associate of science degree from Fort Scott Community College.

Palmer is a member of the Fort Scott Rotary, Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce, City of Fort Scott Design and Review Board and 4-H County Wide Photography. He is also a member of the alumni association for Pittsburg State University and Fort Scott Community College.

Regularly recognized for his community involvement, Palmer has been named 2009 FSCC Outstanding Young Alumni, 2008 Fort Scott Chamber of Commerce Young Professional of the Year and 2006 Southeast Kansas Higher Education System Outstanding Alumni.
