A local man arrested this weekend on a charge of felony electronic sexual solicitation of a minor appeared in Bourbon County District Court Monday.

Fort Scott resident Joseph E. Beerbower, 34, was arrested shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday by the Fort Scott Police Department after responding to a call the night before.

Bourbon County Attorney Terri Johnson has charged Beerbower with one count of felony electronic sexual solicitation of a minor between the ages of 14-16. During Monday's arraignment, Beerbower's bond was set at $75,000. In addition, he was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim or any witnesses, with the exception of his mother with whom he is believed to live, according to Johnson.

He has also been ordered to have no access to a computer, cell phone, communication websites, such as Facebook.com, and instant messaging. FSPD Lt. Travis Shelton said the investigation is ongoing.
