Pleasanton girls close second at Crest
IOLA -- Pleasanton's girls missed out on the team title by just four points here Thursday in a very competitive Crest Invitational.
The boys side was more spread out as Southern Coffey County took the team title.
Uniontown attended this meet as well.
Hartford girls scored 74 points in winning the meet while Pleasanton finished with 70. Lyndon came in third with 67 points.
Although Uniontown finished eighth with 50 points, tat total was just 10 points behind fifth-place Southern Coffey County. The meet was close enough that it could be said that a change in the order of any two events would have shaken things up considerably.
Both the Eagles and Blu-Jays had three event winners. Lindsey Conn was a double winner for Pleasanton as she took the 200-meter dash in 28.22 seconds and the 400 in 1:05.40. Kim Robinson was the Blu-Jays' other winner as she went 102 feet, 6 1/2 inches in discus.
Abbie Smith was a double winner for Uniontown, taking her two best events once again. She ran the 100-meter hurdles in 15.53 and the long jump at 17' 4 1/2. Jacy Ermel won shot put with a mark of 35' 6 1/4".
Pleasanton's boys finished tied for fourth place with Burlington and won three events. Tyler Myrick cleared 5' 10" in high jump, Preston Coffman went over 11 feet in pole vault and Reid Hein had a best mark of 45' 5" in shot put.
In total, Pleasanton's girls won 12 medals while Uniontown won eight. Both schools' boys teams also returned with eight medals each.
Both schools will be at Pleasanton next Thursday for the annual Three Rivers League Relays. This will be the final meet of the regular season with each school going to Regionals in two weeks.
