Former resident killed in car accident

A former Fort Scott resident was killed in a car accident April 7 in Saline County, Mo.

Brendan K. Hulett, 18, Sweet Springs, Mo., was driving east on a south outer road about 1 1/2 miles west of Missouri Highway 127 around 10:19 p.m. April 7. The car went off the edge of the highway then returned to the road and began to turn counter-clockwise and was struck on the passenger side by another car driven by Jason Hall, 24, also of Sweet Springs, according to Missouri Highway Patrol.

After the impact, Hulett's car burst into flames and became fully engulfed. Both Hulett and a passenger, 18-year-old Lynn R. Plummer, Sweet Springs, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Saline County Coroner. Both were wearing seat belts. According to The Marshall Democrat News, Hulett and Plummer were killed by blunt trauma to the head and were dead before the fire broke out.

Hall and a passenger, Keshia M. Hall, 20, of Sweet Springs, were transported to a nearby hospital and treated with serious injuries. Neither were wearing seat belts.
