Rescue training

Fort Scott firefighter Michael Miles (left), FSFD Capt. Robert Coffman and FSFD Lt. Eric Shoemaker (back) lift Shadon Satter, a Topeka firefighter, up a steep embankment Monday during a training exercise conducted in back of Gunn Park just off of the Marmaton River. Topeka firefighters provided the training that covered rope rescue techniques. This kind of rescue is important in case of natural or manmade disasters. Firefighters will be continuing different aspects of the rope rescue training during the next two days. Next week, they'll be educated on confined spaces training and next month, trench rescue training will be covered. Tribune photo/Michael Glover.
