Lucy Needham, age 93, of Mapleton, died Saturday morning, February 17, 2007, at the Medicalodge Nursing Home in Fort Scott. She was born on June 3, 1914 in Miami, Arizona the daughter of Arthur Guy and Rachel Nonamaker Smith. She graduated from Fort Scott High School in 1932. She married Alvin Ira Needham on October 2, 1932, in Fort Scott. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1999.

She was a member of the Mapleton Community of Christ. She is survived by three daughters, Clarice Russell of Redfield, Hazel Kuhn of Independence, Missouri, and Helen Long of Mound City; one son, Keith Needham of Mound City; a sister, Fern Graham of Fort Scott; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Arthur Needham; a daughter, Patty Williamson; two brothers, Arthur and Raymond Smith; and a sister, Ethel Nelson. Joe Rei and David Nickelson will conduct funeral services for Lucy Needham at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at the Mapleton Community of Christ. Burial will be in the Mapleton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time at the church Tuesday morning.
