Tom and Phyllis Watt came from Lee's Summit, Mo., to check on his mother, Mae Watt, on Saturday, Feb. 3. She was able to be out and about for the first time since Jan. 12 when the ice storm and snow hit Arcadia. They enjoyed shopping, dinner at Harry's Cafe in Pittsburg, Kan., and chores around the home.

If weather permits, Feb. 12 the Autumn Leaves Senior Citizens will meet in their Cottage in Arcadia. Bingo will be played following the noon dinner hour. Folks from the Arcadia Care Center will be bringing prizes and refreshments that day. All seniors are invited to the carry-in dinner and for the fun following.

Larry and Vickie Shead enjoyed supper with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Shead and the boy's mother, Mary V. Shead, at Chili's in Pittsburg, on Saturday evening, Feb. 3. The wait for one of the larger tables was about an hour, but was spent in a warm corner visiting about family members and greeting a few local friends.

The greeter kept watch and told them when the folks at their table-to-be were served dessert. The food was fine and waitress cordial and efficient.

Twenty attended the Christian church dinner on Sunday, Jan. 14, after the morning worship hour. Special guests were Willa and Charlie Cable, former pastors. Charlie accompanied himself on the piano as he sang a solo titled "Heartache." All appreciated his efforts in that he was walking with two crutches due to recent knee surgery.

Donald Bright and Gary Peterson served communion. Offering prayer was given by Jace Pavlik, who will be filling the pulpit as guest preacher on Sunday, Feb. 18. Pastor David Peterson's sermon was taken from the Book of John, Chapter 10, and was read in part by Jace. It was titled "The Good Shepherd." It was an excellent sermon enjoyed by all. Birthday offerings were given by Sam Lesley, who will celebrate his 29th birthday, and Betty Dehn gave on behalf of her father, Earl Hill, who lives in Richmond, Mo.

Angela Redd, with her mother, Ernestine Berkey, along with granddaughters, Kristin and Bethany Redd went to Mt. Vernon, Mo., Rehab. Center to visit the girl's grandfather, Lloyd Redd. They enjoyed the evening meal at Gringo's in Joplin. Before leaving Arcadia, Kristin and Bethany, with Ernestine, took carry-out lunch from Arcadia Bearcat to city clerk Forrest Berkey.

Tuesday evening, Herman Tyler and David Peterson, invited Walter Foulk to accompany them to Gebhardt's for dinner during the snowy time in Arcadia.
