Thanks to supporters of the American Heart Association softball tournament

Tuesday, September 19, 2006

To the Editor,

We would like to thank everyone who was involved in our 7th Annual Duck Soup Softball Tournament for the American Heart Association. Nine teams participated in this ear's event. Unfortunately, we only had prizes for the top three teams, but in our book they are all winners in this charitable cause. The Misfits took first place; second place went to Redd's Liquor; while third place went to Farm Bureau of Pittsburg.

It takes a lot of time and effort to put on a tournament of this size. We would like to thank Kori Allen, Brooke Gillen, Kim Harper, and Morgan Tourtillott for keeping the score books all day. We would like to also thank the City of Fort Scott and USD 234 as the new bathroom/concession stand was a nice addition to Ellis Park. A special thanks to Chris and Amanda Harper and Kyle Knight for their time and donations to make this such a success.

A big thanks to the local businesses who donated prizes to the winning teams: Bowman's Nu Grille, Opies-Taco Tico, Pizza Hut. Thank you for your support; we couldn't do it without you.

But most of all, we would like to thank all the teams who participated in our event: Misfits, Redd's Liquor, Citizens Bank N.A., Bud Light, Cotter Heating and Air, Farm Bureau of Pittsburg, Back to Health/Union State Bank, Throw Togethers, and Dave's Bombers. All the proceeds from this event go directly to the American Heart Association.

Thanks again to each and every one who played a part in this year's Duck Soup tournament. We are looking forward to more successful events in the future!
