Dealing with the bullies

The local school district has been diligently working to end bullying in local schools.

On August 25, district administrators will take this prevention to another level by offering anti-bullying training to the parents of school children. It is my belief that if everyone involved in a child's life is watching for signs of bullying and making efforts to put an end to it, we will see these types of acts drastically decrease.

Furthermore, if children are taught how to interact with each other without using bullying tactics, I believe, those mannerisms will stay with them as they mature into adults. How can this not cut down on the amount of domestic abuse that occurs everyday in homes throughout Bourbon County?

Something as simple as calling someone a name can have negative effects, lasting long into that person's adult life. How precious our children are, and what an amazing responsibility we have been charged with in their upbringing. Let us raise up a community of self-confident, respectful young adults. Putting an end to school-day bullying is just the beginning of accomplishing this task.
