The Pittsburg Purple Dragons won the battle of smashmouth football teams in a big way Friday night, walloping the Fort Scott Tigers 34-8 at Frary Field.
The Tigers (1-3) scored their first points of the game on a 74-yard touchdown run by QB Cal Cosens with 8:00 left in the third quarter, and nearly scored again after recovering a fumble on Pittsburg’s next possession but ultimately turned the ball over on downs.
