County commission candidates speak

Three candidates vying for the Bourbon County Commission District 1 voiced their stances on county issues during a candidate forum Monday evening at the Danny and Willa Ellis Family Fine Arts Center.

The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the forum leading into the primary election, which takes place Aug. 2. Mark McCoy served as moderator for the event.

County commission candidates who attended the forum were Clinton Walker, Democrat, and Republicans Nelson Blythe and Donald Coffman. Matthew Crystal, Republican, and Republican incumbent Lynne Oharah, who resigned in June to take another position with the county, did not attend the forum.
