Roy C. Holdridge, Jr.
Roy C. Holdridge, Jr. a former resident of Fort Scott, Kan., passed away Sunday,
July 5, 2020, at the home of his daughter in Elephant Butte, N.M. He was born Dec. 13, 1938, to Gladys “Happy” and Roy C. Holdridge, Sr. He grew up going to school and working with his father at their new and used car dealerships, Holdridge Motor Company in Albuquerque, N.M.
After moving to Fort Scott, Kan., in 1968, he worked for Comstocks, Mercy Hospital and finally, in 1987, was appointed deputy sheriff of Bourbon County servicing under Sheriff Harold Coleman before retiring. He enjoyed working in his yard, working on cars, watching movies and spending time with his family.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald E. Holdridge and wife Lora, Fort Scott, Roy C. Holdridge, IV, Redfield, Kan., one daughter Michaele R. and husband Shawn Tillotson of Elephant Butte, N.M., three grandsons, Dane Cagle, Kansas City, Mo., Lucas Holdridge, Redfield, and Daniel Holdridge, Fort Scott; two granddaughters, Ronaele Cagle, Albuquerque, N.M., and Jennifer Mesner-Roberts, Fort Scott; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Gladys “Happy” Holdridge, wife, Donna Jean (Kepley) Holdridge and one daughter, Ronaele Holdridge.
There has been a cremation and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
