was recognized Thursday for 50-plus years of contributions to the Fort Scott Tribune during a reception at Hedgehog.INK, a bookstore owned by Hedges and his wife, Jan Hedges.

Hedges has written various columns for the Tribune through the years and continues to write a weekly column published on Saturdays. His “Coaches Corner” column began in 1968. He has written articles focused on human interest, as well as stories about players and coaches.

The crowd also helped Hedges celebrate his birthday, which was Thursday.
