Veterans Day weekend in Fort Scott

Along with the annual Veterans Day Memorial Service, which was held Sunday, the holiday weekend also included a Veterans Day Program, a parade, and an 1800s Grand Ball on Saturday.

Maggie and Carl Brenner emerge from the line during the grand march of the 1800s Grand Ball held Saturday night at Memorial Hall. The dance was sponsored by the Friends of the Fort Scott national Historic Site.

G.G. Oshel of Mapleton, presents Edith Collins, right, grand marshal of the Veterans Day Parade with a quilt from the Quilts of Valor Foundation Inc. Collins served in the Nurse Corps from 1942 to 1945. Oschel is the Kansas state coordinator for the foundation, which provides quilts to veterans.
