Uniontown falls to Lyndon, 42-14

LYNDON — Uniontown football fell to 1-3 on the season here Friday night following a 42-14 loss to Lyndon.

Ty Davidson passed for 94 yards and rushed for 37 for the Eagles but also threw four interceptions. Andrew Reed rushed for 74 yards and both Uniontown touchdowns, which came in the second quarter.

Reed also led the defense with 17 tackles followed by Davidson and Nick Hathaway with 10 each.

Lyndon improved to 2-2 on the season with the win

The Eagles play Olpe at home Friday night.


Southeast rolls by Northeast, 27-6

CHEROKEE — Brett Malle was responsible for 303 yards of offense here Friday night as he led Southeast past Northeast in Three Rivers League/Class 2A-District 1 action.

Malle, a senior quarterback, threw for 155 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 148 yards and one score.

Karter Dugan completed 12 of 24 passes for 157 yards for Northeast (0-4 TRL, 0-1 district, 0-4 overall). Thomas Chronister led in rushing with 68 yards.

Damon Beaman scored the Vikings’ only touchdown on a fumble recovery in the second quarter.

The Vikings play a home district game versus Riverton Friday.


’Hounds sweep Ottawa

Fort Scott Community College’s volleyball team swept the Ottawa University junior varsity at Arnold Arena Saturday afternoon, 25-12, 25-14, 25-16. The Greyhounds are 3-0 versus Ottawa this season.

Mykah Wingerter led Fort Scott with 8 kills while Madison Dehlinger had 6. Sophie Mader handed out 20 assists. Emily Jackson served 5 aces and recorded 7 digs. Abbie Casper led in digs with 9 while Carly Spencer had 4 blocks.

The Greyhounds play at No. 5-ranked Highland Wednesday in a Jayhawk Conference-Eastern Division match.


Tiger volleyball Saturday results

LOUISBURG — Fort Scott High School volleyball won one of five matches here Saturday at the Louisburg Tournament.

The Tigers fell in pool play Basehor-Linwood, 25-2, 25-10; Shawnee Mission East, 25-12, 25-8; Shawnee Mission West, 25-19, 25-17; and Olathe Heritage Christian, 25-23, 11-25, 25-19. They were paired up with Heritage Christian again in a consolation match and won, 28-26, 25-20.

The Tigers played in a Southeast Kansas League triangular Tuesday night at Labette County with Parsons also in attendance. Fort Scott is at home Thursday night for a non-league quadrangular with Columbus, Girard and Pittsburg.


Uniontown goes 2-2 at Cherryvale

CHERRYVALE — Uniontown volleyball went 2-2 in the Cherryvale Tournament here Saturday. The Eagles’ wins came in their first two matches.

Uniontown swept Cherryvale, 25-18, 25-22 as Sivanah McAnulty had 3 kills. They defeated Coffeyville of the Southeast Kansas League in three sets, 21-25, 25-17, 25-13. Lauren Shinn had 6 kills.

Uniontown lost to eventual tourney champ Colgan, 25-13, 25-8. Maddie Ard led the Eagles with 4 kills. The Eagles also fell to Labette County, 25-8, 25-16.

The Eagles were at home Tuesday night for Three Rivers League matches versus Northeast and Jayhawk-Linn. They will be at Chetopa October 2 for a TRL triangular that also includes Marmaton Valley.


Eagle golf third in home meet

Uniontown finished in third place and had three medalists at its home girls’ golf tournament at Woodland Hills Golf Course Monday.

Uniontown shot 511 over 18 holes, finishing nine strokes behind winning Girard and six back of second-place Frontenac. Erie was the only other school with a full team, finishing fourth at 552.

For the Eagles, Aubry O’Neal shot 54 on the front nine and 55 on the back to finish with a total of 109, good for third place. Her front-nine score was the best in the field.

Libby Franks took fourth place for Uniontown, shooting 58-54—112 and Ashton Church was eighth at 67-61—128, winning out over Girard’s Abi Doherty (67-61) on a scorecard playoff.

Rounding out Uniontown’s results was the 79-83—162 of Cheyanne Carpenter.

Miracle Dutton of Erie was the individual champion, shooting 55-51—106 followed by Faith Poland of Girard at 58-50—108.

The Eagles will finish up the regular season Monday at Anderson County.
