Four to vie for First District seat in primary election

Four people will vie for the Bourbon County Commission First District seat in the August primary election.

According to information from County Clerk Kendell Mason, the following candidates filed for the seat by the June 1 filing deadline: Lynne Oharah, a Republican from Uniontown; Clinton Walker, a Democrat from Mapleton; Matthew Crystal, a Republican from Fort Scott; and Robert Query, a Republican from Fort Scott.

Incumbents Jacqie Spradling, a Republican from Spring Hill, and Patricia Love, a Republican from Fort Scott, have filed for county attorney and county treasurer, respectively.

The following are filings for various township and precinct positions:

Drywood Township clerk, Laura Krom, Fort Scott, Republican.

Marion Township clerk, Dan Ramsey, Uniontown, Republican.

Marmaton Township clerk, Maryetta Hixon, Redfield, Republican.

No candidates filed for the townships of Franklin, Freedom, Osage and Walnut.
