George wins two events at SCC

BURLINGTON — Uniontown’s Ben George won two events at the Southern Coffey County Relays, held here Thursday.

George took first place in high jump, clearing 5 feet, 8 inches, and triple jump with a leap of 39’ 2 1/4”. He also finished fifth in the 400 meters.

Colt Eck took second in the 200 meters and sixth in the 800 for Uniontown. Hayden Miller finished fifth in triple jump and sixth in long jump.

Sammie Hampton was the only Eagle girl who medaled, taking fifth in shot put and sixth in discus.

Uniontown head coach Jackie Hall said she brought just six athletes with her due to a state music competiton.

The Eagles will compete in Jayhawk-Linn’s meet Monday.
