Eagle girls get first victory of season

Uniontown girls 49, Oswego 44.

OSWEGO — Uniontown’s girls got their first victory of the season with a 49-44 victory over Oswego here Tuesday night in Three Rivers League play.

Freshman Karleigh Schoenberger led the Eagles (1-2 TRL, 1-6 overall) with 14 points while senior Keely Goodridge added 10. Danielle Young grabbed 19 rebounds.

“Extremely proud of the effort we put forth tonight,” Uniontown head coach Dustin Miller said. “The purpose for tonight was to compete and leave it all on the court, which I felt we did. We look forward to Friday when we travel to Galena.”

Oswego remains winless at 0-3, 0-6.

Oswego won the junior varsity contest, 20-10. Lauren Shinn scored 4 points to lead the Eagles.

Uniontown boys 55, Oswego 30.

OSWEGO — Ben George, Luke George and Chance Fuhrman each scored 14 points for Uniontown here Tuesday night in TRL action.

The Eagles (2-1, 3-4) led 17-4 after one period and 33-11 at halftime.

Both Uniontown teams play non-league contests at Galena Friday night.

Northeast boys 55, Pleasanton 49.

ARMA — Northeast remained one of four teams undefeated in league play following this Three Rivers League home victory. The Vikings improved to 3-0 in the TRL and 4-4 overall. St. Paul was also 3-0 in the league, pending the outcome of Tuesday night’s game at Marmaton Valley. Yates Center and Jayhawk-Linn are each 2-0. Pleasanton dropped to 2-1, 2-5.

Pleasanton girls 33, Northeast 25.

Northeast’s girls fell to 1-2 in the league and 2-6 overall. The Vikings are in a four-way tie for sixth place with Crest, Marmaton Valley and Uniontown.

“Played so well but the shots just didn’t fall,” Northeast head coach Scot Post said. “Played another good team and competed. Wins are coming soon but right now just focused on improving.”

Both Northeast teams are idle until February 15 when the Tony Dubray Classic begins at Liberal, Mo. Opponents are to be determined.
