FSMS 7th graders wins pair at Nevada

NEVADA — Fort Scott Middle School’s seventh-grade girls’ basketball teams won their games here Tuesday while the eighth-grade teams each suffered defeats.

The seventh-grade A team took a 23-20 win as Sydney Herrin scored 14 points and hauled down 10 rebounds. Berkley Wood had 8 rebounds of her own.

The seventh-grade B team won 29-13. No statistics were provided.

Nevada’s eighth-grade A team took a 36-20 win. Harmony Shaw led the Tigers with 6 points and 6 rebounds.

Nevada won the eighth-grade B game, 14-12. Alexa Bukowski led Fort Scott with 4 points.

The Tigers played at Frontenac Thursday in games that were a late addition to the schedule. The seventh-grade A team lost 13-11 and the B team fell 26-11. Abby Altic led the eighth graders with 6 points while Karlie Chipman had 4 steals.

Both A teams will play in a tournament at Anderson County today. All four teams play at Pittsburg Tuesday and at home against Chanute-Royster on Thursday.
