Fire department responds to blaze at Sugarfoot & Peaches

Smoke rolls out from the roof of Sugarfoot & Peaches Friday afternoon. The cause of the fire has not been determined.

The Fort Scott Fire Department responded to a fire at Sugarfoot & Peaches BBQ shortly before 3 p.m. Friday. Firefighters were expected to remain on the scene for about three to four hours. Fire Chief Paul Ballou said it is too early to determine the cause of the blaze but the business has suffered “heavy damage.” The owner and at least one other person were at the scene and nobody was inside when the fire department arrived, Ballou said. More details will be available by Monday.
