Post-season assignments released

After 2017-18 KSHSAA classifcations were released on Tuesday, assignents for post-season play began to be posted on Wednesday and Thursday. Assignments for Tribune Area schools Fort Scott, Uniontown, and Northeast can be seen below.

Volleyball

Fort Scott High School will host a Class 4A-Division I Volleyball Sub-State Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 21 at the FSHS gymnasium. This will be a four-team tournament scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.

The Sub-State will be an all-Southeast Kansas League affair as Labette County, Coffeyville and Independence will be the other teams. Two rounds will be played with two semifinals and a championship match. The Sub-State champion goes on to the Class 4A-Division I State Tournament at Salina on Oct. 27 and 28.

Chanute will also be host to a 4A-Division I Sub-State with Andover Central, Augusta and Rose Hill. Pittsburg will host a pair of Class 5A Sub-States the same day. Class 5A takes eight-team pools, seeds them and splits them into two Sub-States. The other teams in the pool are De Soto, Kansas City-Turner, Lenexa St. James, Olathe West, Blue Valley Southwest, St. Thomas Aquinas and Shawnee-Mill Valley.

Northeast has been assigned to a Class 3A Sub-State at Erie. This is an eight-team Sub-State on October 21 to be played on two courts. The other teams are Caney Valley, Southeast, Cherryvale, Erie, Fredonia, Neodesha and Riverton.

Uniontown will play in a Class 2A Sub-State at Yates Center, another eight-team, two-court Sub-State on October 21. The other teams there will be Howard-West Elk, Madison/Hamilton, Oswego, Colgan, Pleasanton, Sedan and Yates Center.

Golf

Regional golf tournamens will be held on Monday, Oct. 9. Fort Scott will be playing in a Class 4A Regional at Stone Creek Golf Course in Chanute with play beginning at 10 a.m. Labette County, Arkansas City, Baxter Springs, Chanute, Columbus, Frontenac, Galena, Girard, Independence and Parsons are also in the field.

Uniontown has been assigned to a Class 3-2-1A Regional at the Fredonia Country Club which will tee off at 9 a.m on October 9. Also in the field are Erie, Eureka, Fredonia, Colgan, Pomona-West Franklin, Wichita Independent and three-time defending State champion Caney Valley.

Cross Country

Regional meets will be held Saturday, Oct. 21. Fort Scott’s teams will be competing at the John Redmond Resevoir near Burlington along with Baxter Springs, Burlington, Chanute, Columbus, Frontenac, Galena, Anderson County, Girard, Iola, Prairie View, Louisburg, Osawatomie, Ottawa, Paola and Parsons. The girls’ race will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the boys at 10:40.

Northeast has been assigned to the Central Heights Class 3A Regional at Richmond along with Caney Valley, Southeast, Council Grove, Erie, Eskridge-Mission Valley, Eureka, Fredonia, Humboldt, Jayhawk-Linn, Neodesha, Osage City, Pomona-West Franklin, Richmond-Central Heights, and Wellsville. The girls’ race begins at 10 a.m. followed by the boys at 10:45.

Uniontown will also compete at Burlington for a Class 2A Regional at John Redmond Resevior. The girls’ race begins at 11:20 a.m. with the boys’ race getting underway at noon. The other schools assigned to this Regional are Allen-Northern Heights, Central-Burden, Burlingame, Howard-West Elk, Lyndon, Olathe Heritage Christian, Olpe, Oswego, Colgan, Pleasanton, Kansas City Christian, Shawnee Maranatha Academy, and Yates Center.

Tennis

Fort Scott will play in a Class 4A Regional at Forest Park in Parsons on October 6 and 7 with Labette County, Arkansas City, Chanute, Coffeyville, Columbus, Fort Scott, Independence, Iola, Parsons, and Winfield.

Soccer Regionals have not yet been determined.
