Holston wins national high school rodeo championship

GILLETTE, Wyo. — A Fort Scott High School student is the National High School Rodeo Association’s champion bull rider.

Trey Holston of Fort Scott won the event July 13 at the High School National Finals Rodeo.

Holston placed fifth in his first go-round with 76 points and tied for first in the second go round with 84 points. He finished first in the final round with a score of 82 points.

Coy Pollmeier, Fort Scott, tied for seventh in the second go-round with 76 points.

Colt Eck of Redfield competed in bareback riding. He scored 42 points in the first go and 43 points in the second go. He finished the week with with an average of 92 points.
