Tiger tennis results at Pittsburg

PITTSBURG —Both Fort Scott High School doubles teams finished in third place Thursday at a tournament hosted by Pittsburg.

Alex Gorman and Micah Self (6-4) split in pool play in No. 1 doubles. They lost to Noah Jackley/Garrett Hogan of Bishop Miege, 8-4, but defeated Luke Laws/Pete Westervelt of Columbus by the same score. They then defeated James Richey/Caleb Dial of Pittsburg, 8-5, in the third-place match.

Joe Adams and Elijah Wright (5-1) also split in their No. 2 doubles pool. They lost to Gino Dodd/Logan Lazarczyk of Miege, 8-4, but shut out Columbus’ Tim Epler/Reese White. They defeated Jordan Sutton/Luke Falkenstein of Labette County, 8-3, in the third-place match.

Both No. 1 singles entries finished in fourth place. Jacob Bailey (4-7) lost to Will Grier of Miege by shut out and then defeated Dakota Caudle of Pittsburg, filling in for an open Columbus slot, 8-3. Bailey was also awarded a default win over Columbus, then lost to Isaiah Fawson of Iola, 8-5, in the third-place match.

Allen Santana was moved up to varsity for the first time and went 1-3. He lost to Miles Zeller of Bishop Miege by shutout and to P.J. Monsour of Pittsburg, who was also filling in an open Columbus slot, 8-2. After receiving a default win from Columbus, he lost to Pittsburg’s Cameron Lee in the third-place match.

Miege won the team title with 30 points followed by Pittsburg with 21, Iola with 16 and Fort Scott with 14.

The Tigers will be in Parsons on Tuesday for Labette County’s tournament.
