Roy Edgar Reeder,

Roy Edgar Reeder, age 77, a resident of Uniontown, Kan., passed away, early Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, in Shawnee, Kan. He was born March 12, 1939, at the family farm near Uniontown, the son of Thomas Albert Reeder and Illah Irene Shull Reeder. Roy attended school at Walnut Hill School and later Uniontown High School. He served with the United States Navy from 1957 to 1962. He first married Janette Carol Ludlum in 1956. They divorced. He later married Lois Marie Rowland in 1961. They also divorced. Roy had worked for the United States Post Office for 30 years. In addition, he maintained the family farm and raised cattle. He was a member of the Uniontown Ruritan Club, Alcoholics Anonymous and the VFW. He enjoyed doing mechanic work and small engine repair. He also liked to collect John Deere memorabilia.

Survivors include his two daughters, Sharon Blancett, of Lenexa, Kan., and Annette Hixon, of Fort Scott, Kan.; five grandchildren, Natalie and Randy Blancett, Roseanne Briggs, Christopher Lamb and Raven Hixon; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his close companion, Lorraine Loyd of Uniontown. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law, Denton Hixon, his sister, Charlene Broughton and his companion, Carol Hudson.

Rev. Marty DeWitt will conduct funeral services at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2 at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the U.S. National Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
