Fort Scott High School head cross-country coach Tracey Bogina was named Southeast Kansas League Coach of the Year for her work with both the boys' and girls' teams this season.

This year's Tiger teams swept the league titles at the SEK championship meet in Chanute on Oct. 13. It was the second consecutive title for the girls' team. Devin Brooks won the individual boys' championship for the second consecutive year and was named as Fort Scott's finalist for the Wendy's High School Heisman Award.

With the Tigers winning three of the four SEK titles -- Independence's Renee Trout won the girls' individual crown -- Fort Scott became the first SEK school to take three of the four championships in the same season in consecutive years. This has happened just five times in total with Fort Scott also doing so in 1996. Labette County won three of the four championships in 1986 and swept all four in 1998.

Both Tiger teams also qualified for the State meet. Brooks finished 17th in the boys' race last Saturday. The boys placed eighth in the team standings while the girls finished sixth.
