Four Fort Scott entries finish second at home

Fort Scott High School's junior varsity tennis team hosted its second tournament of the season Monday, entering two teams.

Every entry for Fort Scott Red placed second in their pools as the team tied for first place with Pittsburg with 12 points. Chanute was third with 11 points. Fort Scott White had two entries, both in doubles and placed fourth.

Kendall Madison played No. 1 singles. She defeated Libby Vogel of Pittsburg, 6-4, in her first match. Shayla Bogle of Chanute won the next match, 6-1. Madison went on to beat Aubri Stewart of Labette County, 6-0, and Carmen Kent of "Pittsburg Extra," 6-4.

Alexis Bailey was the No. 2 singles entry. She beat Rylee Johnson of Pittsburg, 6-2, in her first match. Taylor Thompson of Chanute won the second match, 6-1. Bailey went on to beat Cameron Albro of LCHS, 6-0, and Gabby Rutledge of "Chanute Extra," 6-1.

Mikayla Norris and Madi Larson were the FSHS Red entrants in No. 1 doubles. They lost in the first round to Karyn Kelly/Alex Picher of Pittsburg, 6-3. They defeated Amee Fitch/Haley Angleton of Chanute, 6-0, Ralee Moore/Lauren Baldwin of LCHS, 6-5 (7-2) and Abbie Houston and Shaylee Terry of Fort Scott White, 6-3.

Houston and Terry finished third in No. 1 doubles, beating Moore/Baldin, 6-5 (7-5) and Fitch/Angleton, 6-4. They lost to Kelly/Pitcher, 6-4.

Aubry Terry and Patience Richwine played No. 2 doubled for Fort Scott White. They lost to Morgan Noe/Maddie Maple of Pittsburg, 6-4, then swept Lily Falk/Sophie Osborn of Chanute and Bree March/Aubrey Case of LCHS by 6-0 scores before beating Addie Smith and Jasmine Clemens of Fort Scott White, 6-4.

Smith and Clemens finished fifth in the pool. They lost to Noe/Maple, 6-2, March/Case, 6-3, and Falk/Osborn, 6-1.

The next scheduled outing for the Fort Scott JV is Monday at Parsons.
