Lloyd Alfred Olson, age 87, resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at his home. He was born June 7, 1928, in Dwight, Ill., the son of Dell and Bessie Berg Olson. He was a 1946 graduate of Westport High School, Kansas City, Mo. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1958 with a BS in accounting. He is a life member of the K.U. Alumni Association and an avid KU fan. He received a graduate degree in banking from the University of Wisconsin. He married Sally Targgart on July 23, 1962, in Miami, Okla. He enjoyed working in the banking industry for Comptroller of the Currency, Commerce Trust Co., First National Bank, Olathe, Kan., Security State Bank, Fort Scott, and as part owner of the Bank of Bronson, Kan. He was also a salesman for Gronseth Directory Co. and Mast Publishing Co. Lloyd was a past member of the Rotary Club, Fort Scott Country Club, and the Elks Club. He was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge, Fort Scott Scottish Rite, Mirza Shrine, V.F.W. Post No. 1165 Honor Guard, and the First Presbyterian Church, serving as elder and deacon. He was a disaster volunteer for the Red Cross and an auxiliary member at Mercy Hospital where he enjoyed being an escort. He enjoyed golf, skiing, fishing, gardening and travel. His duties as a landlord kept him busy. He was very helpful to many of his tenants. He lived a good long life. His earthly presence here among us will be missed. We take comfort in knowing we'll see him again in Glory.
