HESSTON -- Fort Scott Community College's men won their seventh consecutive game in Region VI play but had to rally in the second half to beat Hesston here Saturday, 88-78.

The Greyhounds, who are tied atop the region standings with Johnson County, trailed 44-42 at the half but outscored the Larks by 12 in the second half to complete a sweep of the season series.

Dametrius Walker led Fort Scott (7-1 region, 12-14 overall) with 30 points on 11-of-18 field-goal shooting. That wasn't his season high as he had 31 in a game against Wentworth Military Academy on Nov. 20. But he is the first Greyhound with multiple 30-point games in a season since Ramell Taylor had two during the 2009-10 season.

Eddie Sims added 27 points for Fort Scott as he made all six 3-point shots he took. Jeremiah Fleming sank four triples on his way to a 15-point outing.

Only four Larks scored at all. Cody Halvorson went 9-of-18 from 3-point range as he finished with 27 points. Jake Hansen added 22 points, Ty Jordan 19 and Dillon Buchanan 10.

Fort Scott, winners of eight of its last nine games overall, shot 48 percent from the field, making 27 of 56 field-goal tries and 10 of 23 from 3-point range. Hesston (3-6, 15-11), which lost for the fifth straight outing, made 25 of 60 field goal tries for 42 percent and connected on 14 of 35 triples.

This was the first of four straight road games for Fort Scott. The Greyhounds will play a Jayhawk Conference-Division II game at Highland on Wednesday night.
