Phyllis Ann Rice

Phyllis Ann Rice, age 69, a former resident of Fort Scott, Kan., and Omaha, Neb., more recently of Grove, Okla., died Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at her home in Grove. She was born Dec. 26, 1946, in Fort Scott, the daughter of Alden Cullop and Lillian Hurst Cullop. She married Dennis Rice and the couple made their home in Omaha for many years. While in Omaha, Phyllis worked as an office manager. Following retirement, Phyllis moved to Grove in 2008. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Power Squadron Boating Club of Grove. She also enjoyed making greeting cards with her friends. In earlier years, she was an avid golfer.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis, of the home in Grove; two sons, Barry Rice and wife, Lynn, of Fort Scott and Jason Rice and wife, Mel, of Omaha. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Stephanie, Alex, Sage and Emma Rice and three step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, David Cullop.

Rev. Chuck Russell will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16 at the Cheney Witt Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main St., P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
