Jason E. Silvers Volunteer Greg Higginbotham, portraying Capt. Theodore Bowles, assistant quartermaster, reads over a list of excess government property being assembled for auction during one of five scenes presented during the tour.

With the Fort Scott National Historic Site's commemoration of the Civil War Sesquicentennial concluding, the 34th annual Candlelight Tour features scenes from 1865 at Fort Scott and focus on a new birth of freedom brought about by the Civil War.

During the tours, more than 700 candle lanterns illuminate the site and more than 100 re-enactors bring the fort to life.
