USD 235 budget adjusted for error, mill levy unchanged

Friday, October 2, 2015

cial meeting Monday night, the USD 235 Board of Education approved its republished budget.

There was no public comment.

"When our budget was originally published, a revenue source was misplaced in the bond and interest fund," Interim Superintendent Jan Hedges said. "That source is approved for the Local Option Budget fund. We republished to correct the error."

The republished budget reflected that necessary change, she said.

"This resulted in the bond and interest mill levy increasing and the lowering of the LOB mill levy," Hedges said. "The bond and interest dollar amount went down, which increased the mill level slightly. The LOB dollar amount went up, revenue went up, so the mill levy went down. It was correcting. We had something in bond and interest that shouldn't be there, so it was moved to LOB and corrected. Basically to fix an error, raised here, lowered there, but it equals out the same."

The mill levy is 43.979 for 2015-16.

The bond and interest fund pertains to an old bond project that was an addition to the Uniontown Jr./Sr. High School building in 2000, said Board Clerk Sherri Hartman.
