FREDONIA -- With conflicting school activities and some illness affecting Uniontown's girls' golf team, head coach Jason Tourtillott decided to bring some of his junior varsity golfers to the Fredonia Tournament here Thursday.

The Eagles finished seventh out of eight schools with a team score of 262. Caney Valley was the winner with a 169.

Kyley Brown, the only Eagle who's been in every varsity tournament, shot a 55 to finish tied for 22nd place.

"She is so close to getting over the hump and breaking out and I really think its going to happen soon," Tourtillott said.

Laryn Thompson shot a 66 for the Eagles, Kaitlynn Sampson finished at 67 and Abby Jefferis shot 74.

Uniontown hosts its varsity meet at 1 p.m. Monday at Woodland Hills Golf Course.

"My hope is at our Invitational Monday on our home course we can see some girls really boost their confidence with some better scores," Tourtillott says.
