Mary Louise Herrill Thompson, age 84, a former resident of Kansas City, Mo., died Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at the Medicalodge of Frontenac. She was born Feb. 11, 1931, in Garnett, Kan. She married Freddie J. "Fritz" Thompson on July 14, 1950, in Bentonville, Ark. Following high school, she attended one year at Fort Scott Junior College. Before her marriage she worked part-time in the office of the Burke Street Hospital. After her marriage, she worked at the Western Insurance Company. She followed her husband while he was serving with the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. Upon returning to Fort Scott, while her husband finished college at Pittsburg State University, Mary Louise worked two and a half years as secretary to John F. Haberboch, superintendent of schools. Mary Louise and Fritz moved to Kansas City in 1958. She worked for QCS/Maritz for 30 years before retiring in 1993. She was a member of the First Church of God.

Survivors include two sisters, Sue James and Shirley Windsor, both of Galveston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son F. Michael Thompson on May 26, 2009 and her husband, F.J. "Fritz" Thompson on May 2, 2011.

Rev. Chuck Russell will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8 at the Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the Cheney Witt Chapel from 10 a.m. until leaving for the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Services are under the direction of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S.
