Wayne Stanley Breiner

Wayne Stanley Breiner, age 87, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Thursday, July 16, 2015, at the Olathe Medical Center Hospice House in Olathe, Kan. He was born Aug. 25, 1927, in Humboldt, Kan., the son of Carl O. Breiner and Alta A. Debler Breiner. Wayne graduated from the Chanute High School in 1945. He served with the United States Navy during World War II. He later enlisted with the United States Army and served from 1950 to 1952. Following his military service, Wayne attended Pittsburg State University and received a BS degree in business administration. He began working for J.C. Penney Co. in Chanute and Pittsburg and later transferred to the Fort Scott store. In October of 1956, Wayne was hired as store manager for Calhoun's. He stayed with Calhoun's until it closed in Dec. of 1985. He then worked for Double Circle Farm Supply from 1986 until his retirement in August of 1992. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and in his earlier years had been active with the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce and the Jaycees.
